Bridesmaids....Party Time!

Over the weekend two things happened...my very fancy camera broke (OH NO!!!) and I had my Bridesmaids Movie Shindig I told you I was planning last month (OH YES!!).  I first notice my camera issues when I decided to photograph my gift bags and cupcakes for the party.  See what I mean....
Ok...I swear I did not drop said camera in between these two shots (really!!).  In any case the camera is currently headed out for (hopefully!) very minor repairs.  Gulp.

Now onto the party which was, FAB!  I made pink cupcakes and had a sandwich tray as well as all the usual movie munchies (popcorn, candy and pretzels). I also had cocktails available.  We had wine but I also made my signature "girlie" drink a Nuts & Berries.  Here is the recipe...

1/2 oz Frangelico
1/2 oz Chambord
2 oz cream

I pour this over ice in a little glass and it is delicious!

I also made up some gift bags because, let's face it, what girl doesn't like a little something for pampering??  I included some lotions, candles and bath salts for some serious "day after" Bridesmaids recovery time!

Now onto the show!  Have you seen Bridesmaids yet??   It is hilarious!!!
In case you have not heard about the movie (where have you been???), here is the scoop...

The delightful Kristen Wiig, who's shone in dozens of supporting roles and on Saturday Night Live, hits a bull's-eye with her first lead role in Bridesmaids. Annie (Wiig) isn't doing so well; her bakery failed and she keeps sleeping with a good-looking louse (Jon Hamm, Mad Men), but she's always had her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph, Away We Go) to buoy her up… until Lillian gets engaged. Annie becomes maid of honor, but another friend of Lillian's--the rich and lovely Helen (Rose Byrne, Get Him to the Greek)--wants to take over that position. Misadventures with bad Brazilian food, dress fittings, an unfortunate flight to Vegas, and a sympathetic traffic cop (Chris O'Dowd from British TV comedy The IT Crowd) follow, with increasingly hilarious results. Bridesmaids successfully balances raunchy comedy and character portrait. The embarrassing and socially catastrophic stuff, which in too many movies balloons into absurdity, is here kept in check just enough to allow Annie and the other characters to be multidimensional people--without the movie losing its comic capacity for cringe. (Actress Melissa McCarthy, of Mike & Molly, works miracles with a character than in most hands would be pure cartoon.) Wiig's enormous appeal keeps Annie sympathetic, even as she becomes more and more of a train wreck. Bridesmaids is both smart and dumb, raunchy and earnest, and altogether enjoyable. --Bret Fetzer

When we all sat down to watch this I was prepared for it to be VERY funny.  I had heard from friends who say it at the theater so I was ready for greatness and it truly was great!  It was so funny but it did not stop there.  The movie had a lot of heart too which made the characters endearing and kept you rooting them on (through one fiasco after another!!).  Some of the humor is pretty raunchy but not in an inappropriate way and it is balanced off nicely with the from the heart moments.  This movie a tribute to friendship and girlfriends and is the perfect answer to The Hangover for men.  I actually thought (and so did my guests) that Bridesmaids was better than The Hangover.   My Bridesmaids shindig was full of big, belly laughs the entire time!  This one is a must for your collection and tons of fun to watch with your own girl posse.  Buy it today from Amazon...
