The Complete Idiot's Guide To The Best Family Destinations...Review and Giveaway!

If you are like me, you have seen and/or read those great "Complete Idiot's Guide" books.  These guides give you the basics on all sorts of things like crafting, cooking, finance, parenting...if you have a question there is more than likely a "Complete Idiot's Guide" for it.  I actually used on of their home buying books in the past and it was incredibly helpful.  I was excited to hear about a new release, The Complete Idiot's Guide To The Best Family Destinations".  My husband and I really like to travel but have done little of it since the kiddos have arrived.  We are starting to venture our more and a guide to family friendly  places would be super helpful.  Here is the scoop on this new release...

Planning a family vacation is exciting, but finding a destination that will appeal to multiple ages and interests can be a challenge.  While the internet has become a primary tool for vacation planning, helping families decide when to go, how much to spend, what to do once they arrive, etc., it falls short in organizing information in one place that helps families decide where to go in the first place. In The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to the Best Family Destinations experienced travel writer Kyle McCarthy, with the assistance of traveler reviews from one of the top family travel sites, FamilyTravelForum.com, takes readers through five U.S. regions, Canada, and Mexico, uncovering the top 200 destinations for family travelers. Destination categories include:

·         Top theme parks, family beaches, and other outdoor adventures
·         The best road trips
·         Most accessible national parks, eco-adventures, and recreation areas
·         Rich cultural spots, including the best museum, event, or folk culture
·         Can’t miss historical sites

This book is a super resource.  It gives you the rundown of not only a huge variety of places but also a huge selection of different things to do.  I will say that this book gives a very broad look of locations (of course if it was more specific it would be too heavy to lug around!!) so it is a good starting point.  I just used this book a couple of weeks ago when we took a quick trip to Burlington.  I had no idea there was a teddy bear factory there (or anything really besides a big college town!) or we could take a tour of Ben & Jerrry's...yum!  This book made our trip much more enjoyable because we were able to plan ahead.

I would highly recommend this book if you are planning a family vacation especially if you are trying to nail down a specific location.  It is also, I think, particularly helpful on a road trip.  Driving through Rhode Island on the way to Florida?  Check out fun spots for the kids!  Thumbs up from this traveling Mom!  Pick up a copy today on Amazon...
