Curly Girl: The Handbook by Lorraine Massey....Review & Giveaway!

Do you see that picture of me in the upper left hand corner of this page?  Well, that really is me but, truth be told, the hair is a sham.  It is technically my real hair, however, it is flat ironed right into submission.  My hair is curly/wavy and overall, ahem, unruly.  When I was contacted to do a review of a new book, Curly Girl:  The Handbook by Lorraine Massey, I nearly wept with joy.  Please, someone, help me with this hair of mine that seems to have a mind of it's very own!

Curly Girl is packed with unique and fail-proof hair-care methods, inspiration, and an empowering pro-curl attitude. It’s all here: daily routines for Botticelli, fractal, and wavy curls; Lorraine’s no-more-shampoo epiphany—handle your hair as gently as you do your best cashmere sweater; homemade lotions and potions. New to this edition: an illustrated, step-by-step guide to trimming your own hair (Remember: It’s not what you take off; it’s what you leave on.); a section on the particular needs of wavy hair; Lorraine’s Down-and-Dirty Curly Boy Routine; more fabulous ’dos for weddings and other special occasions; a chapter on multicurltural hair written by an African American specialist at Devachan. Plus, updated information on green and chemical-free products, 20 new Q&A’s, and a DVD with tutorials on caring for four different types of curls. From now on, there’s no such thing as a bad hair day.

I have never, ever come across a better explanation of the specific needs of we curly girls!  There is a whole section about the different curls which was so interesting and helpful in determining my particular kind (I'm a  wavy curl girl).  I found a bunch of tricks for easily making my curls look better without much work and this book, might just cause me to retire my beloved flat iron!!  If you or someone in your life has curls or waves (65% of us do!!) this book is a MUST!  It will change the way you wear your hair and if you are lucky like me, even save you some time getting ready (Hallelujah!!).  I also want to mention that Lorraine Massey has a whole line of curly hair products called DevaCurl which I am so anxious to try.  They sound amazing and just like something this curly haired mom might treat herself too!  Find out more about the products and find a retailer by clicking here.  Save your hair today and pick up your copy of Curly Girl on Amazon....your poor, fried tresses will thank you!
