Wishbone...Review & Giveaway!

By now you all know how much I love books.  I am an absolute bookworm hoping to raise my three children to love books as I do.  So far so good...all three love being read to and it is one of our favorite things to do together.  When I come across different means to spark an interest in books and in reading I am all over it.  Anything to keep the love of books alive!  When I was approached to do a review of the series, Wishbone, I was excited about it because it is centered around classic novels.  As told by a Jack Russel Terrier....obviously!  I couldn't wait to sit down with the kids to watch.  Here is the scoop...

If you’re ready for a terrier-ific time jumping into beloved tales such as Robin Hood and Hunchback of Notre Dame, all told through the eyes of an adorable Jack Terrier pup, then Wishbone is for you! Entertainment Weekly coined Wishbone as “One of our Favorite Series on DVD featuring Talking Animals!”  This TV series, which aired on PBS, features a live-action Jack Russell Terrier who imagines himself as the hero of famous classic novels and invites his audience to come along. The tale-wagging pup has picked up 11 awards, including four Emmys and a Peabody. He appeared in People Magazine and on “The Tonight Show.” He's even been part of a “Jeopardy!” category. In short -- so to speak -- this sartorial storyteller has become a popular icon. And it all started because of a little dog with a big imagination.

DVD SYNOPSIS

Let your imagination run wild with everyone’s favorite dog Wishbone! The adventurous little terrier takes four action-packed journeys in these beloved classic tales. Join the Merry Men and follow Robin Hood in the Paw Prints of Thieves as he takes from the rich to give to the poor.  In Hot Diggety Dawg and The Impawssible Dream, band together with Don Quixote and Jules Verne’s Professor Liedenbrock to battle giants and monsters. In Hunchdog of Notre Dame, escape danger as Wishbone rescues maidens and defeats his evil master. This clever pup with a nose for adventure will delight and inspire the whole family.

This show is seriously cute!  I mean come on...what is not to love about a feisty Jack Russel in costume??  AND he loves literature....BONUS!  A&W were really interested in the stories and were captivated by the tails (I couldn't resist!).   They really loved the Robin Hood episode and I have already promised to read them the "real" story soon.  One thing I want to mention is that this show is recommended for ages 2-5 and I would have to disagree with that range.  I would say it is more appropriate for children aged 4-8.  The stories being told take a little more concentration than the average 2 or 3 year old has and I think it has more appeal for older children.
