Chicken Soup For The Soul: Grieving and Recovering...Review & Giveaway!

I have been reading the Chicken Soup for the Soul books for years.  I find their stories to be inspiring and I always get excited about a new release.  Their latest offering is Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Grieving and Recovering covers a subject I think we can all relate to.  In addition to taking some time to read some of the touching stories I shared this book with my friend and fellow blogger, Colleen.  Here is Colleens take on Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Grieving and Recovering....

Sometimes when you lose someone special in your life you can feel very alone.  It’s easy to think that no one understands how you feel and to turn inward.  Chicken Soup for the Soul Grieving and Recovery aims to change that.  In this book you will find 101 stories from people who have been where you are, felt what you feel, and written about it.

My favorite collection of stories in this book was the first collection; Making the Most of Memories.  Like the authors of these stories I believe that holding on to memories of a loved one is a fabulous way to keep them with you always.  Reading the memories of others in this section even prompted me to remember a few things about my Grandmother that I hadn’t previously.

The poem, Seven Stages Scrambled, was also very touching and made me think.  There seems to be stages out there for everything and grief is not left out.  Seven Stages Scrambled reminds you that it’s OK to grieve in your own way, in the order that works for you not according to some schedule of stages.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Grieving and Recovery is a good book to have around if you have experienced a loss.  Some stories will bring tears, others will make you laugh but they will all help you realize that you are not alone.

Clearly Colleen gives her seal of approval to this book.  I think something that can act as a guide and offer support (and even some laughs!) during such a heart wrenching time is something everyone needs.  You can pick up your copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Grieving and Recovery today on Amazon...
